Perambulate
To walk about, walk or stroll around an area, especially in inspecting or examining.
e.g. My job was to perambulate the area and record the different species of butterfly.
Peripatetic
A person who travels from place to place, in particular to carry out work.
e.g. The supply teachers are generally peripatetic.
e.g. The nature of military life is peripatetic.
Jaunt
A short trip or excursion, especially for pleasure.
e.g. I had a pleasant jaunt to the coast yesterday.
Dawdle
To move slowly, too slowly for that which is necessary. To waste time and fall behind.
e.g. “If we dawdle we’ll miss the start of the film.”
Traipse
To walk heavily or tiredly, trudge, tramp or gad about.
e.g. I had to traipse all around the shopping centre to find what I wanted.
