Have you updated your Facebook Page recently?

Last year Facebook rebranded their ‘About us’ section and created a new feature for Pages; Our Story.

This is a space for you to tell potential clients about your business; how you started, what you do, and how you can help.

Situated on the right-hand side of your page’s profile, ‘Our Story’ is one of the first things visitors to your page will see. This makes it crucial to get right. It may just be one of the first places potential leads will go to source more information about your business.

 

 

Though you might be tempted to overload it with your whole history, product list, service list, and contact details restrain yourselves! You don’t want to bombard your reader, you want to entice them and give them a taste of how you can benefit them.

‘Our Story’ also features space for a larger cover photo to be uploaded. This can mimic your profile cover image or can be something completely different, i.e. a photo of your office, an abstract image relatable to your industry, or even a team photo to make it more personal. Make sure you keep the lower part of the image clear of text, as it will overlap with the title on the preview image.

 

This is how the section looks with no information added

This section should include your keywords and phrases as it will be picked up by search tools such as Google. As always, the more information and detail you provide, the more Google will see your business as an authentic and credible business (and the higher up you will place in searches.) You may even already have the information readily available on your own website to copy and paste.

It’s important to fill the ‘Our Story’ section on your Facebook page as this could be one of the first places a potential client or customer will look to find out more information about your products or services.
